Backstory

MH&DaveAlsup_on_MtRainier2002webFXOutpost Media was founded in 1997 by KING 5 News Assignment Manager (now with CNN) David Alsup and Seattle television producer/filmmaker Michael Harris.  The company’s activities began with the monitoring of television newscasts in the Seattle-Tacoma market and the provision of news clipping services. Its first contractual clients were Nordstrom, Seattle Fire Department, public relations firms Gogerty Stark Marriott and Richmond Public Relations, Sound Transit, Seattle Mariners/Public Stadium Authority, Seattle Sonics/Seattle Storm, and the Paul Allen-owned Seattle Seahawks and First & Goal – which began with the Yes on Proposition 48 campaign, the successful effort to win public support to build a new stadium for the team in Seattle (the campaign later sent Outpost Media a letter saying that our daily compilations of news coverage were “a critical component” in the ultimate success of that effort).

Since then, Outpost Media has expanded its services to include the provision of original, broadcast-quality stock footage to productions around the world, including programs on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and Discovery Channel in the United States, CBC Canada, Fuji Television in Japan, GloboTV Brazil, and the Australian networks ABC and Channel Nine.  Outpost Media is now one of the top independent providers of stock footage in the Pacific Northwest.
